Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather SS Bolt Action Rifle
The Bell and Carlson lay-up composite stock used in the Model 70 Extreme Weather Stainless offers a sturdy feel, trim, and lightweight ergonomics. Its textured charcoal gray matte coating gives it a tough appearance and better traction on rough terrain. From any shooting position, the contoured cheekpiece helps ensure correct eye-to-scope alignment. High performance magnum cartridges are less affected by felt recoil thanks to the thick, black Pachmayr Decelerator pad.
It has the same Pre’-64 type claw extractor with Controlled Round Feeding as all modern Model 70s, allowing the cartridge to be readily removed from the chamber at any time after it exits the magazine. Additionally, it indicates that the claw catches the cartridge base as it exits the magazine, allowing it to enter the chamber aligned and straight. Additionally, keep in mind that the receiver’s cartridge feed lips are machined for increased feeding dependability. When examining the condition of the chamber or unloading, the traditional Three-Position Safety offers a larger margin of safety by offering both on safe and fire positions in addition to a middle position that locks the firing pin while allowing the bolt to be manipulated.
The Extreme Weather SS rifle’s free-floating fluted stainless steel barrel, which has a recessed target crown to protect the rifling, is made in the same factory as those used in American military rifles and machine guns. If you have a stronger barrel shape that does not carry too much weight, you can expect 1 MOA accuracy with high-quality optics, premium ammunition, and favorable shooting conditions. The Extreme Weather SS therefore feels incredibly light while providing the accuracy of a heavier rifle. As anticipated, two stainless steel sling swivel studs are inserted. Actually, all of the main parts are made of stainless steel to ensure that your pistol will continue to function and look great under challenging circumstances year after year. You’ll need to purchase rings and scope bases that match your setup separately, so don’t forget. (The scope and mounts in the photo above are not included.) The line-up of hunting calibers is more than adequate, taking you from crossover big game/varmint calibers to hard hitting magnum calibers sufficient for practically everything you could want to hunt: . . . whitetails, mule deer, elk, sheep, goats, bears, moose, etc. Check the blogs and you’ll read how many consider it the perfect elk rifle.
